Foundation Business

Our ancestors are said to have matriculated from Africa to the United States of America during the Trans-Atlantic slave trade. Chattel slavery was the order of the day from August 1619 to January 1863,  Several decades ago, our common ancestor was  brought to the American colonies as Africans were stripped of human rights and enslaved as chattel. We’ve been blessed to survive two centuries of slavery to relish in the freedom we enjoy today. So, when we say “Foundation Business,” its us carrying the baton from our ancestors’ hopes and dreams.

A glimpse into her story

Irene Hughes-Bullocks

Our most recent shared ancestor was born on November 26, 1916, on the same day as the signing of the Adamson Act which was the first law of its time to regulate an 8-hour workday. In Europe, World War 1 was raging on having started 1914 and continuing until 1918.

The war had a significant impact on global politics, economies, and societies, and it likely would have been a major topic of conversation during Irene Hughes early life.

In 1916, cars were still a relatively new invention, and most people traveled by horse and buggy or on foot. The first paved road in the U.S. wasn’t built until 1912, which plays into us hearing her stories about walking Whiskey Lane before it was paved.

Little known fact is that Mother’s generation also experienced a global pandemic with Influenza that lasted from 1918 to 1920.

Unite the family.

Our primary goal is to unite the family into a tight fist. We’re stronger together than apart.

Maintain the estate.

Currently, we only have one family estate but as we grow, we expect to add to this.

Build community.

We’re starting to build from inside, out. Once we get ourselves solid, we’ll expand outward.
